This new paper discusses biofilm in water systems and how they negatively effect greenhouse mechanical equipment and plant health.

Often thought of as algae in the pipes, biofilm much more. A combination of different bacteria, fungus and protective matrix, biofilm is extremely difficult to eliminate.

Biofilm not only causes clogging throughout the water system, it can harbor pathogens, leading to reinnoculation throughout the year.
